Pierre Lévisse

From the first edition in 1980, the race has been a great popular success. In 1980, 500 participants took the start of the 20km and 5km. Beyond the impressive number of participants, the first edition attracted many high-level athletes. The winner of the first edition was Pierre Lévisse, who raced internationally and was several times French champion of cross-country and 10,000m.

For ten years, the best French people have competed on the Côte de Granit Rose, including the French marathon champions Fernand Kolbeck, Dominique Chauvelier and many others...

The event was then opened to international runners from many European and African countries, the path having been traced by the Belgian Emile Puttemans, former world record holder in the 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 m .

Thus, for more than 40 years, the Association of the "20km de la Côte de Granit Rose" has allowed many anonymous people to rub shoulders with great international champions, the organizers remaining committed to maintaining this race at its highest level, but also to promote its popular aspect by wide dissemination.

Laudatory articles about the 20km of the Côte de Granit Rose appear each year in specialized national journals; all come together to underline the quality of the route and affirm that this is one of the most beautiful road racing courses in France.
