The Coast:
The pink granite coast is a coastal strip of the English Channel located in the north of Brittany in France. It extends over about 10 kilometers and is recognizable among a thousand thanks to the granite blocks that line it. These rocks took on a pink color due to a rare geological phenomenon that only occurred in Brittany, Corsica and China. The pink granite coast is a picturesque and sublime place, where you can admire a unique landscape.
The pink color of the granites is due to a mixture of quartz, mica, feldspar and iron oxide. After being oxidized at a temperature of around 800°C, granite takes on a pink color. This transformation is very rare and has only been observed in these three regions.
The pink granite coast has several picturesque villages, such as Trébeurden and Perros-Guirec, as well as sites that offer a view of a spectacular landscape. By visiting this region, you can walk along the coast, contemplate the pink rocks, and soak up the beauty of Brittany.
